- Hard water on the KM evaporator. Blackhawk's water is hard, and hard water is what kills ice machines out here. Scale builds on the KM evaporator plate, harvest cycles drag, the bin fills slow, and eventually the head quits. We descale, swap the water filter, and set up a cleaning interval. A real descale program is cheaper than a new head.
- Stuck harvest valve at the clubhouse bar. The most common no-ice call on a Hoshizaki is the hot-gas valve hung the wrong way, so the harvest cycle never finishes and the machine runs nonstop without dropping ice. We isolate the valve, check coil resistance against spec, and replace with OEM. We skip aftermarket coils because they fail early on these units.
- Undercounter high-temp alarm. Hoshizaki undercounter ice makers throw a high-temp alarm when the condenser packs with dust, which happens fast in a busy clubhouse bar. We clean the coil, check the fan motor, swap the filter, and get it cycling cold again.

Do you handle the residential Sub-Zero in the gated homes too?
Yes. A lot of Blackhawk's calls are residential: Sub-Zero built-ins, dual-zone wine units, U-Line undercounters in the bars and butler's pantries. We service those as an independent shop, same as the commercial Hoshizaki work at the Plaza and club. -
Is a descale really cheaper than replacing the ice machine?
Almost always. Most lost-capacity calls on a Hoshizaki here are scale, not a failed part. A descale and a water-filter program brings production back for a fraction of a new head. We tell you straight if the unit is genuinely worn out. -
How quickly can you get to Blackhawk?
It's a short run up Camino Tassajara from our San Ramon base, so a down ice machine usually gets a same-day visit. Hours are 7AM to 7PM, seven days, with after-hours emergency on the same number.
