What breaks. What we fix.

We service built-in Sub-Zero refrigeration across the Tri-Valley and greater East Bay, from San Ramon out to Walnut Creek, Concord, Oakland, and Fremont. We’re an independent shop, not a factory-authorized Sub-Zero dealer, so we’ll tell you straight what’s wrong and what it costs before anything happens. The diagnostic is $75 and we waive it if you book the repair. After years on these cabinets, the failure list is short and the same faults keep showing up.

The older 600 and 700 series tend to lose cooling on one side. One compartment drifts warm while the other holds temperature. That’s the dual-refrigeration design talking, and it usually points to a slow sealed-system leak. We diagnose by listening to the compressor cycle, checking the suction line temperature, and pulling the lower kickplate to look at the evaporator. Every truck carries gauges, a micron gauge, and a recovery machine, because a Sub-Zero seal job done halfway turns into a several-thousand-dollar callback. Sealed-system work, recovery, evacuation, and weigh-in, is done in-house under our EPA Section 608 certification (EPA #1279674151528).

Fan motors are the next common bucket. On the Classic 36” and 48” units, the condenser coil cakes with dust inside a couple of years if a panel blocks the grille. We pull the cabinet, clean the coil, and check the fan bearings. A motor that’s running but dry will seize within months, so we catch it early.

The 736TCI and 736TC have a known dispenser control board failure: ice dispenser dead, water still flowing, panel lights fine. Sub-Zero discontinued the board, but a couple of rebuilders we trust carry it. We confirm the board is actually the problem before ordering, since a bad harness or dispenser switch fakes the same symptoms.

Designer Series integrated columns drift out of alignment after heavy use. The hinge cartridge wears, the panel sags an eighth of an inch, and the magnetic seal stops sealing. We’ve got the tools and the patience to square up a $14,000 column door.

A Sub-Zero is built to run 20 years or more and built to be fixed, not tossed. Parts are available, the sealed system is serviceable, and the cabinet outlives several rounds of components. Swapping out a built-in means thousands plus a cabinetry refit, so the answer on a Sub-Zero is usually repair. A simple fix starts around $250 plus parts. A full sealed-system rebuild can reach $4,000, which sounds steep until you price a replacement built-in. We hand you a written quote first and a clear repair-or-replace read before we touch it.

We’re a service line of ADRIUM Service Solutions (CSLB #1136642, BBB A+), dispatched from San Ramon 7 days a week, 7AM to 7PM, with the same number for after-hours emergencies: (925) 999-4095. Sister lines include Bay Area HVAC Service and Bay Area Refrigeration Service.

Cities we cover for Sub-Zero.

Sub-Zero questions, answered.

  • Do you service out-of-warranty Sub-Zero refrigerators?
Yes. Most of our Sub-Zero calls are 10+ year units. We carry sealed-system tools, recovery equipment, and the common evap and condenser fan motors on the truck. Out-of-warranty $75 diagnostic, then we quote the repair.
  • How much does a Sub-Zero sealed-system repair cost?
Sealed-system leaks usually run $1,400 to $2,800 depending on whether the leak is at the evap, condenser, or compressor. We diagnose to the leak before quoting. We do not guess.
  • Can you fix a 736TCI or 736TC dispenser?
Yes. The control board on those vintage units is discontinued from Sub-Zero direct but available rebuilt through authorized refurbishers. We confirm the board is the actual failure before ordering, because the harness or dispenser switch can mimic the same symptom.
  • Do you align Sub-Zero column doors?
Yes. Hinge cartridges wear and panels sag. We have the alignment tools and the patience for a $14,000 column door.
