Sub-Zero in Alamo
Sub-Zero refrigeration in Alamo.
Alamo's Sub-Zero work lives in the homes, not the storefronts. The estate kitchens off Stone Valley Road, Round Hill, and the streets toward Las Trampas run Classic 36" and 48" built-ins, Designer integrated columns, and dedicated wine storage, and when one drifts warm there's usually a few thousand dollars of food and bottles riding on it. We service all of it as an independent shop. We're not a factory-authorized Sub-Zero dealer, so you get a straight read on what's wrong and what it costs before anyone opens a panel.
We come up 680 from San Ramon, so Alamo's a short run. The diagnostic is $75 and we waive it when you book the repair. After years on these cabinets the failure list is short and predictable, and we carry gauges, a micron gauge, and a recovery machine on the truck because a Sub-Zero seal job done halfway turns into a callback you don't want to pay for twice.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- One side warm on the older 600/700 units. A lot of the Alamo cabinets are the older dual-refrigeration 600 and 700 series, and the classic complaint is one compartment drifting warm while the other holds. That points to a slow sealed-system leak. We diagnose by listening to the compressor cycle, checking suction-line temperature, and pulling the lower kickplate to read the evaporator, then do the recovery, evacuation, and weigh-in in-house under EPA #1279674151528.
- Condenser fans and caked coils. On the Classic 36" and 48" built-ins the condenser coil cakes with dust within a couple of years if a cabinet panel blocks the grille airflow. We pull the unit, clean the coil, and check the fan bearings. A fan that's running but dry seizes within months, so we catch it before it takes the compressor with it.
- Wine columns off setpoint. The wine and beverage storage in these homes is common service. A cooling deck that's lost charge, a failed control board, or a door that no longer seals will drift the cabinet off setpoint and put the bottles at risk. We confirm the actual fault before ordering, since a bad harness or a tired thermistor fakes the same symptoms.

FAQ
Sub-Zero in Alamo questions, answered.
-
Are you a Sub-Zero authorized dealer?
No. We service Sub-Zero built-ins as an independent shop, so we'll tell you straight what's wrong and what it costs. Sealed-system work, recovery, evacuation, and weigh-in are done in-house under EPA #1279674151528. -
My Stone Valley kitchen's Sub-Zero is cold on one side and warm on the other. What is that?
That's the dual-refrigeration design showing a slow sealed-system leak on one circuit. We find the leak, repair it, then recover, evacuate, and weigh in a proper charge rather than just topping it off. -
Is it worth repairing instead of replacing?
Almost always. A Sub-Zero built-in is made to run 20 years and made to be fixed, and swapping one means thousands plus a cabinetry refit. A simple fix starts around $250 plus parts; we hand you a written quote and a clear repair-or-replace read first.
