Refrigeration and ice repair in Orinda

Orinda is a small town with a high bar. Most of the commercial work sits around Theatre Square and the shops by the BART station, with the country club and a few restaurants out along Moraga Way filling in the rest. Volume isn’t huge, but when a walk-in warms up on a Saturday or the ice machine quits before a dinner rush, the loss is real and immediate. We’re dispatched out of San Ramon, so the run over the hill through the tunnel is a short one for us.

Commercial coolers and prep lines

We service reach-ins, undercounter units, prep tables and sandwich rails from True, Turbo Air, Atosa, Beverage-Air, Continental and Delfield. Common failures we see here are iced-up evaporators from a stuck defrost cycle, condenser fan motors that have seized, dirty coils choking airflow, and door gaskets that quit sealing and run the compressor nonstop. We carry fan motors, relays, thermostats, gaskets and start components on the truck, so a good share of these get fixed on the first visit.

For sealed-system problems, a refrigerant leak, a dead compressor, a plugged cap tube, we do that work in-house. We recover, pull a proper vacuum and weigh in the charge. EPA #1279674151528 covers the refrigerant handling, and we’re trained on R290 hydrocarbon units, which matters on a lot of the newer Atosa and self-contained boxes.

Ice machines

Most bars in town run a Manitowoc or a Hoshizaki. Andrew is Manitowoc-certified, factory-trained on the Indigo NXT, NEO undercounter and QuietQube lines. Orinda’s water comes off the EBMUD system and isn’t brutally hard, but scale still builds over time and is the usual reason a head stops making clean ice or cycles slow. We descale, replace water valves and harvest probes, and we’ll set you up on a cleaning interval so it stops surprising you. We also work on Scotsman and Koolaire.

High-end residential

The hillside homes off Camino Pablo and El Toyonal lean heavily on Sub-Zero, and a lot of them have dedicated wine storage. We service Sub-Zero and U-Line as an independent shop, no factory-authorization claim, just the people who actually show up and do the work.

We run 7 AM to 7 PM, seven days a week, and commercial outages jump the line. Diagnostic is $75, waived when you move ahead with the repair, and you get a written quote before we touch anything. Call (925) 999-4095 or email [email protected].
