What breaks. What we fix.

Summit is the brand name on Felix Storch’s lineup, a family-run outfit out of the Bronx that’s built its business on compact and built-in refrigeration for decades. You run into Summit anywhere a full-size box won’t fit or doesn’t fit the room: ADU kitchens, wet bars, back patios, office break rooms, medical offices. Out here we see a steady run of bar installs in Blackhawk and Danville plus a rising count of backyard ADUs across the Tri-Valley. The hardware is solid mid-market, and most of it earns the repair.

What kills a Summit is almost always the install, not the machine. Drop a freestanding compact into a tight cabinet cutout with no breathing room and the compressor runs hot for its entire life. It’ll cool fine for a couple years, then start short-cycling on the overload, and one day it just won’t kick back on. Caught early, that’s a relay and overload swap plus opening up the airflow. Caught late, you’re buying a compressor, and on a compact unit that turns into an honest repair-or-replace talk, which we’ll give you straight. Summit’s true built-ins vent out the front grille and handle being boxed in, so we confirm which model you’ve actually got before anyone blames the fridge.

Gaskets are the next most common call. Undercounter doors get bumped shut with a knee, the seal tears at the bottom corner, and the box either frosts over or runs nonstop. Cold controls and thermostats wear out with age, usually showing up as a unit that freezes everything solid or won’t pull down at all. Evaporator and condenser fan motors pack up with dust and bar-floor grime, and a stalled or rattling fan looks exactly like a sealed-system fault until you check. All of that is standard truck-stock for us.

Outdoor-rated Summits follow their own script. The cabinets take the weather, but condenser fan motors, hinges, and gaskets still wear from salt air and UV. If your outdoor unit lives near the water, corrosion at the fan and hinges is the first thing we go after.

Pulling a built-in out of cabinetry without tearing up the surround is a skill on its own, and it’s one we run weekly on U-Line and Perlick boxes. Summit gets the same careful handling. Dual-zone wine cellars and glass-door beverage centers are familiar ground too, including calibration on units that fight to hold two temps.

Sealed-system work stays in-house. We recover, evacuate, and weigh in the charge under EPA Section 608 (EPA #1279674151528), so a refrigerant fix is done right and legal. We service Summit as an independent shop with no factory-authorization claims, just techs who know the equipment.

The diagnostic is $75 and gets credited toward the repair. You get a written quote before any work starts. We dispatch from San Ramon, 7AM to 7PM seven days, with the same number for after-hours emergencies at (925) 999-4095. We’re a service line of ADRIUM Service Solutions (CSLB #1136642), alongside Bay Area HVAC Service and Bay Area Refrigeration Service. If your Summit is warm, loud, or dead, we can usually get it back online in one visit.
