Atosa in Castro Valley
Atosa refrigeration in Castro Valley.
Castro Valley is the quieter end of the East Bay, and a lot of the smaller spots along Castro Valley Boulevard and the strip centers near BART run Atosa. The family diners, the taquerias and pho spots, the corner markets, they opened on the cheap commercial line because the price gets one through the door. A walk-in that won't hold temp is the same emergency anywhere, and so is an Atosa prep table losing its rail on a hot afternoon. We service Atosa as an independent shop, no dealer claims.
Atosa sits under a True on build, so it fails a little earlier, but the repairs are usually simple: an evaporator fan motor, a stretched gasket, a clogged condensate drain, a thermostat that quit holding temp. We carry start components, contactors, relays, fan motors, and gaskets on the truck, so a lot of Castro Valley calls close in one visit. We're on the same route as Hayward, so same-day on a real outage is usually doable.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Prep-table rails and drains. Atosa MGF prep tables in the smaller Castro Valley kitchens lose the rail when the condenser ices the evaporator or the drain clogs with food bits and grease from the cutting board above. We blow the line clear, clean the coil, and drop in an inline screen so the puddle under the unit doesn't come back.
- Reach-in fans and gaskets. The MBF reach-ins fail at the evaporator fan motor and the door gasket. A diner that leans on the doors all day stretches the seal inside the first year and a half, warm air sneaks in, and the box ices over fast. We swap the gasket, clear the evaporator, and check the seal through its full swing. Two fan-motor sizes ride on the truck.
- R290 sealed-system work. The newer Atosa self-contained boxes around town run R290 propane refrigerant. We're HC(A3) trained through Mainstream Engineering and hold EPA #1279674151528, so leaks and compressor swaps are done in-house with recovery, evacuation, and a weighed-in charge. Castro Valley's water is moderately hard, so we check undercounter ice plates for scale too.

FAQ
Atosa in Castro Valley questions, answered.
-
Do you cover Atosa for small spots in Castro Valley?
Yes. The smaller diners and taquerias along Castro Valley Boulevard run a lot of Atosa undercounters, and we service them as an independent shop. Most repairs run from $250 plus parts, a clogged drain from $200. We're usually same-day when the Hayward route lines up. -
Another shop said my Atosa's refrigerant meant they couldn't help. Why?
It runs on R290 propane, and plenty of general appliance shops aren't set up for hydrocarbon work, so they say they can't get parts. We're trained and certified for R290 and do the sealed system in-house with recovery, evacuation, and a weighed-in charge. -
Is the Atosa worth a second repair?
Usually yes, since the common failures are cheap. When one finally hits a leak that costs more than the box is worth, we'll tell you straight whether to fix it again or replace. The $75 diagnostic is waived when you go ahead with the repair.
