Atosa in Alamo
Atosa refrigeration in Alamo.
Alamo doesn't run a big restaurant row, but the gear that's here can't sit dead. A plaza kitchen off Danville Boulevard with an Atosa reach-in full of prep, the deli case inside the Alamo Plaza grocery anchor, a bar pulling ice all evening. When one of those Atosa boxes warms up, the call usually starts the same way: product's on the line. We service Atosa as an independent shop, no dealer claims, just a crew that's worked the units enough to fix them on the first visit.
Atosa is the cheap commercial workhorse, and we see it most in the newer buildouts around town. The MBF reach-ins and MGF prep tables run fine for the money, but they sit under a True on build quality, so they fail a little earlier. The upside is the repairs are usually simple: an evaporator fan motor, a stretched door gasket, a clogged prep-table drain. We come up 680 from San Ramon, so it's a short run, and we carry the parts that fail most.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- MBF reach-in fans and gaskets. Atosa MBF reach-ins die at two spots, the evaporator fan motor and the door gasket. In an Alamo plaza kitchen the gasket stretches inside the first year and a half when staff lean on the doors all shift, and once warm air sneaks past, the box ices over within a couple weeks. We carry two fan-motor sizes on the truck, swap the gasket, and check the seal through its full swing so it isn't just catching on one corner.
- MGF prep-table drains. The MGF sandwich and salad tables clog at the condensate drain, grease and cuttings from the board above plug the line, and you get a puddle under the unit. We pull it, blow the line clear, and drop in an inline screen if the kitchen's willing. Alamo's water is moderately hard, so on any undercounter ice we also check the evaporator plate for scale before it drags down harvest.
- R290 sealed-system work. A lot of the newer Atosa undercounters here run R290, which is propane. Plenty of general appliance shops aren't set up for it, which is usually why the last guy said he couldn't get parts. We're HC(A3) trained through Mainstream Engineering and hold EPA #1279674151528, so sealed-system jobs get done in-house with proper recovery, evacuation, and a weighed-in charge.

FAQ
Atosa in Alamo questions, answered.

Do you work on Atosa in Alamo, or just the big brands?
We work Atosa regularly, especially in the plaza kitchens off Danville Boulevard and the newer buildouts. We service it as an independent shop, no factory authorization claimed. Most repairs run from $250 plus parts, and a clogged prep-table drain from $200. -
My Atosa undercounter runs on propane refrigerant. Can you fix it?
Yes. That's R290, and we're trained and equipped for hydrocarbon work under our EPA 608 cert. We recover, evacuate, and weigh in the charge in-house. If the last shop told you they couldn't get parts, it was usually because they weren't set up for R290. -
Is it worth repairing an Atosa or should I replace it?
Most of the time it's worth fixing, since the common failures are cheap fans, gaskets, and drains. When one finally hits a big-ticket leak that costs more than the box is worth, we'll tell you straight. The $75 diagnostic is waived if you go ahead with the repair.
