U-Line in Alamo
U-Line refrigeration in Alamo.
Most of the U-Line work in Alamo is residential. The estate homes off Stone Valley Road and Round Hill run dual-zone wine reserves, beverage centers, and undercounter ice makers built into custom millwork, and those units punish a careless tech. We know how U-Line built-ins are framed in, so the unit comes out clean and goes back the same way.
The usual Alamo call is a wine reserve holding the top zone fine but creeping warm on the bottom, or an undercounter ice maker that quit. We carry door gaskets, evaporator fans, and damper motors for the 2000 and 3000 series on the truck, so most of these close in one visit. Dispatched from San Ramon, it's a short run up 680.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Dual-zone wine reserve drifting warm. On a 2218 or 3036 in the Round Hill homes, a bottom zone creeping warm while the top holds is almost always a clogged condenser coil plus a tired condenser-fan motor. If both zones suddenly read the same, the small DC damper actuator has failed open. We swap it, recalibrate the temp sensors, and watch the split hold over a full 24-hour run.
- Undercounter ice maker stopped producing. Alamo's water is moderately hard, so scale builds on the evaporator plate and slows harvest. The other repeat offender is the factory braided inlet line kinking against the cabinet wall during install. We descale, refit a longer braided line, confirm the fill cycle fires, and check the drain pump on gravity-drain conversions.
- Sealed-system and beverage-center work. Beverage centers in the plaza-adjacent homes lose temp on a dirty coil or a failed evap fan before the compressor goes. Sealed-system jobs stay in-house: we recover, evacuate, and weigh in the charge to spec under EPA #1279674151528, not topped off and sent on.

FAQ
U-Line in Alamo questions, answered.
-
Can you pull a U-Line built into the cabinetry without damaging it?
Yes. U-Line built-ins drop into surrounds that split or scratch if you yank them wrong. We know how they're framed in, so the unit comes out clean and goes back the same way. -
Both zones on my wine unit read the same temperature now. What is that?
On the dual-zone 2218 and 3036 series that's usually the DC damper actuator failed open. We replace it, recalibrate the sensors, and confirm the split holds over 24 hours before we call it done. -
Are you a U-Line dealer?
No. We service U-Line as an independent shop, not a factory dealer, and we don't claim a factory authorization. You get honest diagnosis, a written quote first, and parts on the truck. The diagnostic is $75, waived with the repair.
