Beverage-Air in Millbrae
Beverage-Air refrigeration in Millbrae.
We repair Beverage-Air commercial units across Millbrae. Downtown Broadway runs on kitchens that never really slow down, from the dim sum and banquet halls to the smaller cafes and bakeries, and the hotel and airport-adjacent food service along El Camino Real keeps its coolers working around the clock. When a Beverage-Air box drifts warm, the food safety clock starts, so we come out, find the fault, and put the numbers in front of you before we turn a wrench.
We see the full Beverage-Air line here: BB-series back-bar coolers under the rail, Marketplace and Elite reach-ins in the line, SP sandwich and prep tables on the make station, UCR under-counters, and DD-series direct-draw beer boxes in the bars. Millbrae sits close to the bay and the fog line by SFO, and that damp, salty marine air is hard on condenser coils and fan motor bearings, so cooling loss from a fouled coil is one of the first things we check.
Here is how we work. The diagnostic is $75, and we waive it when you approve the repair. You get a written quote before any work starts. We are EPA 608 certified for the sealed system, we carry CSLB license #1136642, and we are an independent shop, so we are not tied to any one factory schedule.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- BB-series back-bar cooler running warm. On BB48 and BB58 back-bar units the condenser sits low and pulls in grease-laden air from the bar. The coil packs solid, head pressure climbs, and the box cannot hold beer and mixers cold. We pull and deep-clean the coil, check the condenser fan motor and blades for worn bearings, verify the charge on the sealed system, and confirm the box pulls back down to temperature before we leave.
- DD-series direct-draw beer box short-cycling and warming. A DD48 or DD58 direct-draw box is supposed to hold near 38 degrees so the beer pours clean and does not foam. When the compressor short-cycles or the start relay and run capacitor weaken, the box loses temperature and the taps go warm and foamy. We test the start components, check the thermostat or electronic controller and the evaporator fan, and correct the actual cause instead of just topping off refrigerant.
- Marketplace and Elite reach-in icing over. On Marketplace MMR and Elite reach-ins, a failed defrost heater or a stuck defrost cycle lets the evaporator ice into a solid block. Airflow drops, the top of the box goes warm, and the drain line freezes. We check the defrost heater, the termination sensor and the drain line heat, clear the ice, and confirm the coil defrosts and drains the way it should.

FAQ
Beverage-Air in Millbrae questions, answered.
-
How long does it take you to reach Millbrae from your San Ramon base?
Millbrae is across the bay from us, so we run I-680 south to I-238 and cross the San Mateo Bridge on 92, then head up 101. That puts Millbrae on roughly the same run as our Hayward and Fremont jobs, about 45 to 55 minutes depending on bridge traffic. We route Peninsula stops together when we can to keep the timing tight. -
Do I pay the $75 diagnostic if I go ahead with the repair?
No. The $75 covers the trip and the diagnosis, and we waive it once you approve the repair. Either way you see a written quote before we start, so there is no surprise on the bill. -
Can you get a warm Beverage-Air box cold before my dinner service?
We do not promise same-day, and we will not guess at a timeline we cannot hold. Tell us the model and what it is doing, and we will give you an honest window. Many coil, fan, and control faults are a same-visit fix once we have the box in front of us and the part on the truck.
